CHRISTIAN SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

Mount Zion Christian SchoolGod's plan for all mankind is found in the Bible, and it is the true foundation upon which all attitudes, actions, words and decisions are to be based."For in Him lay hidden the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Col 2:3 NLT). Students are increasingly met with challenges in a world that views everything as relative with no absolute truths. The one truth that gives salvation also helps our students confront everyday living. They need a Christian world view. Mount Zion Christian Schools seek to impart a Christian world and life view. The challenging age that lies ahead of today's youth will require adults whose moral and spiritual values form the basis for judgment, commitment and action. It is the conviction of Mount Zion Christian Schools that education must be Christian in context, for we believe that all truth is God's truth, and that the point from which to view all of life is God's Word, the Bible (Romans 12:2, John 15:3). The Bible is not an add-on but is woven into the very fabric of the curriculum. This is offered in an environment where we acknowledge that students need the support of a safe and nurturing environment. They need a place they can feel free to give testimony and explore their faith.

It is parents who Solomon admonishes in Proverbs 22:6, "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Laying a good foundation is essential in raising loving, moral, well-disciplined children. For students to have a firm foundation of support it is important that schools do more than voice that parents are part of the team, the school design needs to support parents in their efforts. In partnership with parents and fellow believers, Mount Zion Christian Schools provide a Tour Our NH Based Christian School Email Us at info@mzcs.org safe, loving, Christ-centered academic community where relationships with God and neighbor are nurtured. Mount Zion Christian Schools is committed to assist parents in helping their children develop a fuller understanding of God, a deeper relationship with Christ and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. This comes through conformity to God's standards and not through conformity to the world's standards. An excellent school is the result of students, parents, teachers and administrators working together in harmony to advance the growth and development of the students. This does not come about by happenstance; it requires a thought-out, well-defined, intentional plan. Scripture tells us that Jesus' growth as an adolescent included intellectual, physical, spiritual and relational components (Luke 2:40, 52.) We too need to focus on all those areas for our students.

Regarding intellect, Mount Zion Christian Schools is motivated by the Scriptures to teach the Bible and basic skills so that the student can fulfill God's purpose for his/her life (II Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17.) All subjects in the Christian school are presented to ultimately glorify God. Mathematics is taught to show the precise orderliness of God's world. Science is taught to show the creative handiwork of God. History is presented as "His story". Language is taught so we can better communicate the Mount Zion Christian Schoollove of Christ and build His kingdom. Music is presented as a means to praise and glorify God. Academic study should be challenging yet respect that all students are gifted individually by God. These differences include different learning styles and strengths. Wherever possible, instruction is taught at different levels to meet the individual needs of students. Scripture tells us that God made each one of us unique and with a purpose. It is unfortunate that most schools adopt a "one textbook fits all" approach to the classroom. A Christian School should operate in a way that that focuses on each learner as an individual. The classroom experience should reflect that. It should challenge each student to reach the potential God has bestowed upon them.

Christian character building cannot be delayed until college. A wise person would not try to build a home or superstructure without first building a good foundation (Matt. 7: 24-27.) If young people are to stand firmly against the prevailing winds of evil and conflicting philosophies, they must receive Christian education early when patterns of thought, attitude toward God, obedience, and many other elements of personality are being formed. Mount Zion seeks to foster growth and reward success in three areas: respect ("Love your neighbor as yourself" Matt. 22:39), obedience ("Obey your leaders and submit to their authority." Heb. 13:17a), and responsibility ("Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord," Col. 3:23). Mount Zion strives to be a safe, nurturing place where respect, obedience and responsibility are taught in an environment that reflects the grace that God gives to each of us.
